I am looking for someone that has experience owning or operating a L3400. Is the 3 pt hitch supposed to lift smoothly? Mine never has. It jerks or Hiccups violently when raising the 3 pt hitch. It came from the factory that way. Anyone out there have any experience with this?

I posted a message earlier but I probably was not clear.

I don't beleive anyone's lift should be as you said your's is. Have you checked your fuild, tried the adjustment for lift speed opened it further, tried replacing the filter and such? I am assuming you are not lifting a load with the tractor just ideling.

Art is the pro you need on this. kt ....

My experience in general is a bad 3pt lift piston seal(s) or a bad pump--providing all things are equal like a good filter, no unusual anomolies. ....

I have a L2800 which is identical but with lower hp and I don't have any problems with the 3pt like you're describing. I would definitely pursue going higher up the ladder in Kubota to address your issue. The L series is not what I consider low end, just doesn't have as many bells ans whistles. The bells and whistles it does have are supposed to and do work fine. ....

I bought a 2005 L3400 HST and I noticed right away how jerky the 3PT lift was. I called my dealer and he sent a guy over to look at it. He said that ws not right and they researched it on their Kubota web site and found a fix. They replaced the valve with a different model valve and now it is much smoother. There have been quite a few posts about this and most have been covered under warranty.

If your dealer won't help you could try your Kubota rep and explain that it would have been fixed free if you would have complained from the start and now you really need it fixed. ....

Maybe if you could find the fix or even the repair bulletin number (maybe Art could look into it from the 'inside') it could be posted here.

That way it is searchable in the future.

Best of luck. ....

Since I needed to talk to the guys at the dealership anyway, I talked to the shop foreman too. He gave me the poop on the valve.

The valve in question was the wrong one for the machine, there is a bulletin on changing them out UNDER WARRANTY to the newer smoother valves. The proper valve, which will solve the problem is Kubota P/N 31351-39604.

The problem was fixed during the production run, at S/N 10547 and any with a higher S/N than that have the new valve installed already.

This problem affects ALL L2800 and L4300 (gear & hydro) tractors in the earlier production.

Best of luck. ....

Thanks to all who helped me with this problem. After talking with the owner of the dealer, emailing him posts from this and other discussion boards about the L3400 valve problem, the fix was completed and will be covered under warranty as it should have been all along. I doubt if it would have gone that way without the information from this board and the kind help given to me by the members. The cost to me would have been an extra $700+. I am very gratefull. Best Regards, Mike Bleill
